一、表示条件或结果关系的连接词有and，or，consequently等。

He overslept and，consequently he was late.他睡过了头，迟到了。

二、表示因果关系的连接词有for，so，therefore，thus，accordingly等。

We believe that he will succeed，for he has talent.我们相信他会成功的，因为他有才华。

三、表示转折或让步关系的连接词有：but，while，however，yet，still，onthe，contrary等。

We were coming to see you，but it rained.我们正要来看你，可天下起雨来了。

It is raining hard，however we have to go out.雨下得很大，我们却不得不出去。

I have failed，yet I shall try again.我虽然失败了，但我还要试一试。

四、表示并列关系的连接词有and，not only…but also，neither，nor，so，on(the)one hand…on the other hand等。

The sun came out and the grass dried.日出草干。

Not only are you funny，but also you are witty.你不仅风趣而且机智。

The first was not good，neither was the second.第一个不好，第二个也不好。

He did not go，nor did his brother go.他没有去，他的兄弟也没有去。

Jim plays football and so does his brother.吉姆踢足球，他的兄弟也踢足球。
